People Magazine recently released their edition titled ‘Sexiest Man Alive,” a yearly tribute to an actor or musician with unrivaled fan-fare and (usually) rugged good looks. The list of recent winners includes George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas. The winner for 2008 was Hugh Jackman, an Australian native who made it big with Correlli playing star Kevin Jones (where he met his future wife, wooed her in a record three months and still has one of Hollywood’s most successful marriages) and hit the silver screen as a celebrity in Van Helsing and X-men.
But the Aussie great has returned to his homeland with the title of Sexiest Man Alive, to play opposite another Australian, Nicole Kidman, in Australia – the movie. In the film Kidman plays a British aristocrat who inherits land in the outback and hires a rugged local (Jackman) as her country guide. The Australian Tourism bureau, which has reported a decrease in Australian tourism, has stated that they hope the film will revive the industry (and, indeed, breathe new life into the Aussie economy).
Hugh Jackman became a style and fashion icon overnight with the release of the X-men (and, more so with the popularity of Sworfish and the X-man sequels). Jackman’s sharp blend of rugged good looks and tailor-fitted suits makes him a delightful choice for sexiest man. His Ray Ban aviators and Persol 2837S sunglasses add a distinct taste of rugged flavour against his crisp shirts and bowties. Meanwhile, leading lady Nicole Kidman rocks only the finest in Bvlgari and Versace.
