Rupert Murdoch, a Man of Vision and Clarity
Filed Under Fun with Eyewear, Celebrity Watch, Eyewear Knowledge, Designer Eyeglasses | Leave a Comment
Born Keith Rupert Murdoch in Melbourne Australia, Rupert Murdoch has since become the 109th richest person in the world, and one of the most formidable media icons of the 21st century. Though a controversial figure, his genius in the field of media and advertising has been nearly unparalleled on such a global and critical mass.
Dress like the best by investing in fine but generic clothing and wear your fortune only in your accessories- and emerging trend among the powerful and the fashion forward business elites. Get Rupert Murdoch’s look with Emporio Armani EA 9371 style glasses, or simple rimless Burberry BE1042 glasses, black attire and a smile that says “hey, I influence the entire world, what have you done lately?”
Named one of the 25 most powerful people in business, you may be surprised to learn that Murdoch is head of Fox News, in the USA, and also wons Britain’s largest tabloid, the Sun and the New York Post, the Wall Street Journal and more recently he purchased the Dow Jones for a hefty $5 billion USD. As one of the most powerful men alive, at 76 Murdoch seems unbeatable. Like his fellow visionaries, he remains a simple man with a simple lifestyle of working hard, reflecting that by caring for family and cherishing success and pushing forward with his eye on a shifting target. It is true that often the most powerful men do not appear so by donning fashionable clothing, but by peering through knowing eyes (and clear glasses) at a world ripe for development and change. Like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and Warren Buffet, Murdoch wears simplicity on his sleeve, and complexity in his glasses.

Polarized Fishing Sunglasses
Filed Under Brands Wave, Fun with Eyewear, Designer Sunglasses | 23 Comments
Fishing, a sport many Aussies partake in year round, has been hit with a wave of modernization in recent years. Hormone sprayed lures, technologically advanced poles, life-like bait and even performance enhancing equipment for the sporting man who has ever other modern trick in the book covered– polarized Oakley fishing sunglasses.
Polarized lenses reduce glare from reflective surfaces like snow and water, they do so by changing the angle of absorbed light and blocking out the remaining rays that reflect into the eyes. Fishing demands clearer vision of the water to watch lures and hunt for bubbles and ripples on the water’s surface, and therefore, polarized sunglasses are the best choice. These sunglasses are not only great for fishing, but also all other outdoor activities. Polarized sunglasses not only reduce glare and reflection, but also offer UV protection. In addition, yellow tinted lenses are optimal for fishing because they increase contrast and thus enhance slight variations in colour and movement, making it easier to spot a ripple, a bubble or other signs of life under the waves. Combined with polarization, yellow tinted lenses should be the latest edition to the fisherman’s tackle box.
The leading brand in polarization sunglasses is Oakley. Not only are they comfortable, but also of the highest quality. Their polarized glasses come with all the perks of a top sunglasses company, after many years of perfecting the art. They have better enhanced the polarization feature and made it better at blocking glare and creating clearer vision while equally being durable and tough for sports and outdoor activities. Oakley polarized sunglasses are the top choice for the technologically advanced fisherman who has every other base covered.

Filed Under Brands Wave, International Designer Glasses Blogs, Designer Sunglasses | Leave a Comment
Versace debuted its first China fashion show in Beijing in November, marking the company’s renewed interest in the country as a massive consumer culture of luxury goods. Indeed, Versace hopes to make China a yearly stop for fashion shows in the future, and hopes that China sales will become the second most lucrative after European sales by next year.
Donatella Versace, who jointly owns the label with her brother and daughter, was in Beijing for the show. Only Beijing’s elites were in attendance and Donatella wisely used all Chinese models for the runway extravaganza. Celebrities like Jet Li and government and corporate executives were in attendance.
Donatella confesses that she was enthusiastic about the prospects of Versace in China, claiming that she designs for global women and would not alter her designs for the Chinese market in any way. She felt enthused by the youth of China, who she saw as energetic and fashion-foreword.
All funds raised from the showing of her Versace 2009 collection were donated to the survivors of the May 12th earthquake in Sichuan that claimed over 80,000 lives. The group jointly raised over one million US dollars for the cause.

Sunglasses as Gifts | a Five Step Guide
Filed Under Fun with Eyewear, Eyewear Knowledge, Designer Sunglasses | 2 Comments
Struggling for a gift idea? How about sunglasses? Everyone needs them the world over to protect from damaging UV rays, and to aid visibility from blinding glare or unwanted retina damage. They are a gift that will not end up unused in a pile of random porcelain cats or Christmas themed socks. No, sunglasses are useful, stylish and practical and are guaranteed to be a long-term Christmas hit. Here are a few tips for searching for the perfect gift sunglasses.
1) If your friend is light haired, go with darker frames. Black, brown and bold thick frames are in style in 2009. If your friend is dark haired try lighter shades or brown tinted lenses.
2) Try to match the sunglasses to the shape of your friend’s face. Round faces look better with square frames while pointed or triangle shaped faces look better with large round frames.
3) Brand name is always best when giving a gift, it shows you not only care, but are up-to-date on fashion trends. Key brands for 2009 are sure to be Ray Ban, Dior, D&G, Police and Prada.
4) Ensure they come with a case and lens cleaning solution and supplies. Show that you are an organized and practical gift giver by giving the entire package- not just the flare.
5) Don’t go crazy with fad fashions or new trends. Stick to the tried-and-true when giving sunglasses as a gift. No body wants to be the test dummy for a new style.
With all these tips, you’ll need sunglasses to hide your tears of joy while you hunt for the perfect way to fill Santa’s red bag with thoughtful, practical gifts.

Company Profile: Dolce & Gabanna
Filed Under Eyewear Knowledge, Designer Sunglasses, Blogroll | 1 Comment
What began as a union of two star-crossed design assistants turned lovers has evolved into one of the most recognizable brands in modern fashion. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were young designers working as assistants when they met in 1980. After cultivating a relationship the two started their own business together in 1982. Four years later their first line of women’s wear emerged in Milan and earned instant acclaim, whereupon the two branched out into accessories and men’s wear. Three years later their first boutique was earning revenue in Tokyo, with several more in Asia and Milan before branching into the US and Canadian, European and Australian markets.
There is some confusion about the fashion house, which has two key brands. Dolce&Gabbana (without spaces) is a luxury, high-end brand that caters to the refined. It responds to tried-and-true trends rather than seasonal shifts, and sells accessories as well as clothing. The second line is D&G, which is a seasonal trend setter/follower that is more affordable and thus, more prevalent. They also recently launched a D&G children’s brand label which is influenced by pop culture.
The style is distinct in that it is at once classy and yet redundantly over jeweled. With the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, Eva Mendes, and Rose McGowen—a barrage of beautiful and talented women from a broad range of cultures proving that Dolce and Gabbana have found a formula that works—across the board.

Kylie Minogue a Wayfarer Fan
Filed Under Celebrity Watch, Designer Sunglasses, Blogroll | Leave a Comment
Australian singing sensation Kylie Minogue has brought Madonna-like fashion and flare to the Outback. This startling beauty, made famous by her role on Neighbours and more recently her skyrocketing singing career, has since become not only a fashion icon, but also an avid figure in the battle against cancer and the fight for gay rights.
Kylie’s fashion is at once risky and bold and yet respectful and timeless—a perfect blend for this multifaceted female superstar. In high fashion clothing and designer sunglasses she puts on Ray Ban Wayfarers, a style that was popular fully thirty years ago. She is an icon to be emulated and respected.
Minogue was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and though she suspended her tour, post surgery and chemotherapy she resumed touring and currently has an international tour scheduled. Though originally misdiagnosed (while the cancer spread internally) the illness was spotted in time to battle the disease. The battle brought new elements to Minogue’s character and earned her widespread support and respect. Her children’s book, The Showgirl Princess (written while in hospital) was widely received—and even Prime Minister John Howard issued a statement of support for her cause.
Additionally, she has been an icon in the gay community – visiting Ellen Degenere’s talk show in the USA and using suggestively homosexual backup dances while citing her support for this underrepresented group.
